Possession of native non-venomous reptile species in Georgia is illegal.

Not too sure it's illegal to herp there....Herping for fun and pics and possessing are different aren't they?

In Ga, it is illegal to own a corn or milksnake, but one can legally possess as many water moccasins, coral snakes, copperhaeds or native rattlesnakes as one wishes...Tell me that isn't bassackwards! Apparently, the great state of Ga feels that possession of a corn snake is a greater threat to public safety than keeping a big nasty eastern diamondback in your closet....that's the government for ya I suppose!

illegal to own a native corn or king without a permit. It has something to do with the rattlesnake roundups that they still have in some counties here.

It's not done for public safety reasons. Theoretically it's done for wildlife conservation reasons. But you can't deny the rednecks the right to slaughter rattlers, or whatever, since they still run the legislature.

Yes, it's legal to take pictures. But in my experience, that's not what most people mean.
