Honduran Boas

metalpest Jan 12, 2006 11:51 PM

What bloodlines of Honduran boas are available? I currently have a pair from Primevil Beauty (adults were from Mark Bell and Starlight Specialties, not sure whose original stock either had) and another female from Jack Dyer which is of Harding lineage. I want to find other bloodlines that are unrelated, but have found few breeders and they have Harding stock as well. Is there another stock and who might breed them this year?

Thanks

Nick

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long the grasshopper stored up acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched tv. And then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus stole all his acorns, and he got a race car. Is any of this sinking in?

Just got some from Steve as well, but also have 3 others, unrelated, which are not from anyone I know around here...

two had come from Juan Infante last year, and another, I believe, may have been imported.. not sure...

Have an adult female, but no male for her...

Thanks, Joe

Hey Joe

Like those stripes. When do you think your unrelated lines will breed? I would especially like offsrping from the import. I've checked your classified posts often for Hondurans, I may have even emailed you once asking if you had any.

How are your babies from Steve doing? How big are they now?

Hey Joe, those two hondurans you got from Juan are some I bred , also if you want another I believe Dan at DM Exotics has a sibling for sale right now. Looks like they are turning out nice. Take care Jack

Hi,

It is my understanding that all of Jack Dyer's and Dennis Sargeant's came from Bob Harding who orinally got them from Tom Crutchfield. I could be wrong but I've searched the KS archives. I also found that a few breeders aren't keeping the localities pure and are mixing Roatan and mainland hondurans.

I know there aren't many Roatans to mix though. I've seen a few Roatan breeders, but I'm looking for mainland Hondurans to expand my current bloodlines.

I have a nice pair of yearling Hondurans and an adult female that I am not sure what she is. I had another 2.2 adults that I spent a lot on but they had to be put down. They came to me in horrible condition and tested positive for IBD. It basically kinda killed the Honduran motivation for me. Anyway here's the ones I still have. The large female is a beauty!!!

Here's the male yearling. The female looks identical.

The first one was really dark, pretty cool looking. Who produced these?

I wish I knew. About three years ago I received a "Central American" boa that looked very odd. I didn't know what she was but I wasn't willing to give this little girl up. The next year I finally found out that she was a Honduran, possibly even a Roatan outcross. Her colors are UNBELIEVABLE! I have been looking for a long time to find a male for her, hopefully my yearling turns out to be nice. However, I may just give her up to someone with a running Honduran/Roatan project soon to make good use of this outstanding female. We'll see!
