I am not sure why you want to use this product? You never mentioned your intent or reasoning behind using such a parasiticide. To my knowledge this product is designed as a preventative supplement you add to food and/or drinking water, to prevent and eliminate any possible parasite infection.
My question to you, is have you had your particular animal tested for any specific type of endoparasite? Or is this more of a preventative, or 'guesswork' treatment("animal is skinny- must have parasites"
?
Most people do not understand the real threat that most parasites have on our captives(which isn't great at all in most cases), and instead of focusing on more important matters like hydration, they get caught up on the parasite thing. These parasiticides are POISONS, and offer absolutely no benefit to the reptile itself; in fact the only direct effect of these drugs/chemicials on the herp is deleterious.
Medicating an animal based on the assumption that there is a parasitic infection, or even dosing them if they have parasites can be detrimental to the long term(and even short term) health of your animal(again, these medicines are POISONS). Because most endoparasites have multiple life stages, proper husbandry(temps, hydration, and cleanliness) are often all that is needed to irradicate a parasitic infection. If you are able to break up a single stage in the life cycle, perhaps through keeping a clean environment through quarantine, there is no vector for reinfection, and the parasite problem ceases to exist.
What's funny, is that most of these "parasitic infections" that people claim of, without having any bloodwork or fecal samples performed, are nothing more than acute dehydration.
I would be hesitant to use such a product, until you understand what truly is afflicting your animal, and if such a product is even necessary, given you have a good grasp on keeping your herp healthy and well hydrated.
Para-zap and other similar treatments are poisons, which I personally steer clear of nowadays... In most cases it is dehydration which you must watch out for, not parasites.
Good luck,
Bob
