Peg Board

Widdy Jan 13, 2006 11:35 AM

I am trying to make a cage for my Red Tail so I bought some Melamine and had it cut to the desired lengths. For ventiliation I purchased some white coated peg board for the back. Woult the exposed hole or just the wood put my snake in any kind of jeporady? If it does I have no problem making the back out of Melamine as well. Pics will come as I get closer to being finished. So far my total expenses is $35 on the cage.

Thanks in advanced for everyones response

The main problem with pegboard is not the danger of the wood to the snake although that could be a problem. The main problem is humidity's effect on the pegboard the one side is coated but the holes are bare and will act like a sponge to the humidity. Your best bet is to make it one solid piece. Then cut holes for soffet vents for ventalation.

I would not use the white coated pegboard for this application. Either use Bighurt's approach or find some PVC pegboard. I have seen it occasionally at Lowes over in the garage organization area.
