Cricket Keeper Question..

Devi Jan 13, 2006 03:07 PM

I have FBTs and I recently bought a Kricket Keeper from Petsmart..
Everytime I refill it with Crickets.. this is what happens:
The first night, they go in the black tubes, I just empty
those and it works just fine. The second night and every other
night after that, they don't even go in the tubes, they just sit
on the bottom of the tank. Anyone have an idea as to why that is?
I'm having trouble seeing the point of having them in a Kricket
Keeper if I have to scoop them out myself anyways!

I don't have that problem, myself; my crickets like to stay in the tubes. maybe the first time, you're getting all the ones that do like the tubes, and then all you have left are the ones that DON'T like the tubes?

Do you keep yours in bright light or something? I'm thinking
maybe the room I have them in isn't bright enough for them to
want to go in the dark or something..

So weird.

It's called natural selection! You've created a whole species of non-tube-liking crickets. They've adapted in order to survive.

No, I'll tell you what it is...

The crickets won't go in the tubes because they know that whatever crickets venture into the tubes disappear forever! So they stay out of them to avoid an unknown fate.

jk, crickets aren't anywhere near that smart.

Seriously, I don't know why it is. But maybe if you put them under a bright light, they will go in the tubes to avoid the light.
