Mack 1 time,
I would offer you this suggestion. Read up on Boa C. before you attempt breeding. This snake is a tropical snake as does not require a cooling period to reproduce. In fact if you attempt this you will probably be looking for new snakes.
Hook up with the guys on the Boa forum lots of experience over there.
Good luck..
are you serious i have all the boa books and they all recomend lowering the temp

The part of your post that incited my reply was terminology, “brumating them this winter”. And yes, to hibernate or brumate a Boa could kill it.
True. Your Boa’s need to be “cycled” by day time / night time temps also light during the correct time frame of year. For your Boa’s I think it starts around December. That would be the dry seasons in those tropical locations. Believe that window has already passed though. Also your Boa’s should meet size and age requirements before attempting breeding without problems. If the boa books you have do not refer to the necessary age, size, and temps jump over to the Boa Forum. Boa’s can be difficult to breed if you’re not up on all the tricks of the trade. There’re several good knowledgeable breeders over there.
Good Luck....
thanks!!!
Yes cooling BC involves slightly cooling them. If you have a room temp of 80 and a hot side. Then you can remove the hot side during the cooling time. Or only slightly cooler.
Unlike some colubrids that I've heard are kept in the low 50s or lower temps. Which still amazes me.
instead of in general snakes...Im thinking a yearling female is in no way ready to mate any time soon...

Depending on its size, the male might be ready now, but the female should be at least 3 years old and at least 5'. You might be able to get her ready earlier by powerfeeding, but that can cause health problems and significantly lowers their lifespan.

I'd give her another 2 years. Temp is not as important to the boas as is photoperiod and....misting. A little warm water sprayed on them will work wonders when she's big enough.
