my ailing Cribos

stevet2 Jan 13, 2006 07:05 PM

Hey guys and gals,
i'm new to the forum I've long been a lover of Cribs and Indigos, and I recently purchased a Black Tail Crib from a pet shop in Vegas. He was an import 5 ft long a little thin, but the seller said he was eating like a champ.

well I received him 10 days ago. he has not eaten,we have tried live mice,F/t mice and small rats..he has heat and plenty of water at a friends house where he is in quarantine..

He is now weak and listless,my friend says his skin is loose and wrinkly. he defecated 2 days after we received him. I t was regular looking ,but today my friend sad he defecated a foul green(iradescent?) stool.

I know this is bad,but I am out of town and cannot tend to him,,any advice would be appreciated that I can in return send to his care giver at the moment.

Thanks for the help,
Steve

Vet is always the right answer but the discription you gave prognosis does not seem good. Once the skin gets pinchy coupled with a weak non feeding animal sounds dismal. I have had animals come in like that and turned them around but it is labor intensive. Force feeding small amounts, medicine and a lot of pampering. A regular warm soak etc... I wish I could be more helpful but it is hard to despense medical advice on line.

Thank you. I just think there is more we can do as a community to help others including the sharing of sensitive information to help others with breeding, egg incubation etc... But thank you.

Just wanted to put my 2 cents in regarding bill and the help I have gotten from this forum and all you who keep Cribos and Indigos.

I want to thank you all who have responded and Bill for his very generous offer. this forum feels like a family affair and your enthuiasm and love for Drys is very inspirational.

I especially appreciate the fact that you guys do not condenscend us who do not have the knowledge or the experience that you all have with herps. I do not fear being raked over the coals if I ask a "Duh" question

so again thanks to you all and thanks for a great forum. I hope to have my first Eastern Indigo in a few months and can't wait to share him and ask a ton of qustions

Steve
