Enclosure question.

johninbs Jan 13, 2006 11:09 PM

Would an enclosure measuring 24"long x 20"wide x 13"high be big enough for an adult corn? A 20 gallon long is 30"long x 12" wide x 12"high. I figured the 8" longer width would compensate for the 6" shorter length. I currently have 4 '05 corns and I'd like to buy stacking enclosures which open in the front. I found a website which seems reasonably priced. Thanks for any info.....

i think that would be enough room as long as the corn does not get uncommonly big. what the name of the site you found the cages in?

Have a look at the floor area

20 long (30*12) = 360 square inches

The other (23*20) = 480 square inches

I'd say it would be fine, the loss of length is more than made up for by the gain in width.

Thanks for the replies. I actually found a few sites but most are pretty expensive for me. I'm just keeping my corns as pets, I have no intention of breeding. The site I found is- precisioncaging.com These seem to be the cheapest I could find. I also found another site that has really nice enclosures but they're a little too much for me- showcasecages.com If anyone knows of nice cages that open in the front for less money, please let me know. Thanks...

i got a rack for my corns and a 4 foot cage for one of my boas from www.pvccages.com. he has posts in the classified section in this site in the cage section. he had been great to deal with and i like his cages. his prices are also very reasonable. its worth a look.

I have been lucky on my enclosures. A pet store that I go to was upgrading their display and gave me this one for $100. Petco is also moving location, and giving away their displays for $20 a row. I bought 7 rows, which is enough to build another display and a half. I Will post pics when I get that all together. Good luck in your search, though.
