AFP 12 January 06 Malaysian to kiss deadly snake in world record bid
Kuala Lumpur (AFP): A Malaysian snake charmer said he will attempt to break the world record by kissing a poisonous snake 50 times in 10 minutes.
Shahimi Abdul Hamid said his attempt would be televised for the popular television show "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" at the Genting Highlands hill resort on March 11.
The current record is held by an American who kissed a snake 30 times.
Shahimi, 33, said he hopes to get the full support of Malaysians in his record-breaking endeavour.
"I intend to prove that Asians can be champions in this field too," he was quoted as saying by the Bernama news agency.
Shahimi demonstrated his touch in Malaysia's northern Kedah state on Wednesday, kissing a deadly three-metre-long King Cobra 21 times.
