New Crested needs a name...

MDNGTRAIN Jan 14, 2006 01:09 PM

So I got this guy as a late x-mas present/early birthday present from my wife. I have his(?) vive set up for him, but am now considering getting a taller version (given I can FIND the taller version of the exo terra terrarium. No one seems to sell the x-lg locally, and the only place I have found it online charges freight of $35 to get it to me...).
Any suggestions on things that may need changing? (see pic below). if/when I get the taller one, I will properly layer the bottom of the vive with hydroponic(SP?) clay pebbles, wire mesh, soil, then bed-a-beast or something like it. I will also be getting some cork hides & a few more horizontal perches for him.
I'm already realizing that with the drop in temp & the heat kicking on more 7 more ofter, I have to cover 1/2 the screen top to maintain humidity around 70%. The heat's easy, as we all enjoy the same mid 70's ambient. He has a small wattage bulb for a warmer basking spot (brings it up to about 80 directly under the light).
Am I forgetting anything? He's getting CGD every other day & will be getting dusted crix about 1-2x's/wk.

I have 4 crested geckos, 1 male and 3 females. If yours is a male, you'll really be able to tell. If you have doubts on whether it's a male or a female, then it's probably a female. But anyways, my male is Theseus, and my ladies are Ariadne, Hera, and Athena.

Thanks for the suggestions! It's so hard to pick a name while the crestie is young (only about 3" svl). The more I look at s/he, the more I think it's a female, but I'm not going to be sure for a while.
My wife & I came up with posssible Charlize if it's a girl & Anton if it's a boy. Tho I'm wondering if we should go with a gender neutral name...
On another note, I'm very excited b/c I finally found the XL exo-terra terrarium for a reasonable price ($120 shipped). I will be returning the other one once the larger one arrives. Yay!

Dunno. He looks Like an Eddie to me. Look at his face. It screams Ed.

LOL, that was my wife's first suggestion, but the last "eddie" we had went AWOL & never was found. I'm afraid I'd jinx the crestie by giving him that name... (tho I do like it)
