I think I'm cured....

coluberking25 Jan 14, 2006 03:34 PM

For all the regulars who remember my previous posts about being "sick" with a lack of interest in obtaining a box turtle: I think I'm cured. Thanks to viewing old posts in this forum, along with a picture of a baby 3-toed in the new REPTILES issue(the one with the python hatching from its egg on the cover(February 06?) I dont feel like getting up to see what month it is lol) I think I want a box turtle again! Problem is, my pal who offered me some boxies for free hasn't responded for a few months now. Should I just give up and reach for my wallet?

Depends on whether you want a hatchling or adult. I adopted 2 3-toes and have enjoyed them thoroughly. You might check with some rescue groups to see if they have any adults if you want to go that route. Or, if you're set on a hatchling, purchase one.

Myself, I like to get the adults. The hatchlings are cute, but they require more time and attention than an adult. Besides I like to give a good home to an animal that needs one, so I look to see if there is one up for adoption before I go out and buy one.

Well I'd go for either. I still have never seen a hatchling box turtle in person, only in photos. My pal has 7 adults and said he'd give me 6 for free, which I'd have no room for. But he hasn't contacted me in forever, even though I do occassionally try to contact him. All I see are hatchlings for sale, so I guess I might have to resort to that.
