John,

Scroll down and check out the other posts I made about the cages I am building. The sliding glass doors are really easy to do, you just have to get the track that the glass slides in (upper and lower track), and then measure and have glass cut to fit the tracks. I got my track from the link at the bottom of the page (thanks again ChrisHarper2).

Clamp and glue the tracks to your cage and install the glass. You may also consider stick on handles and a lock for the glass as well.

Don't forget you will have 2 peices of glass that are a little more than half the length of the opening so that they overlap in the middle when they are both closed.

Dan.

Whoops,

Forgot to mention you want the 1/4 inch glass track, part number 140 from the link in the last reply. It comes in black, white, and brown too.

John,

same problem I had, every glass shop or hardware store looked at me like I was retarded when I asked for plastic E-channel or glass track. I found the link to Outwater posted here by ChrisHarper2 a while back. One phone call and it was a done deal, super easy.

Colubrid-aphilia pretty much nailed it.

The only thing I'll add is that if you're attaching the track to a pretty tall substrate dam you won't be able to use the spring-loaded clamps pictured in his other thread. If you don't have clamps that are long enough you really don't need to rush out and buy them. I have used masking tape to hold the track in place while the liquid nails dries.

Chris is right about the litter damn, I overlooked it. The two boxes I got do have a small litter damn on one section, but not the bottom section. They were already built so I didn't mess with them. The other reason is that the openings are exactly the same top and bottom as it sits, if I add a litter damn to the bottom cage in each box, then I have to get different sized glass. Not a big deal, but for simplicity I chose to just run with it.

When I build my next cages from scratch, I will design them with the litter damn for sure. If I have to have them on my current build, I'll just glue a strip of 2 or 3 inch plexi behind the doors, otherwise it's going to not have them on the bottom cages.

If you use the Loctite "Power Grab" you won't have to tape anything, it's thick like a paste and you can press it in place and it will stay. I chose to clamp them to make sure everything was perfectly level and flat, it's overkill I know but I'm a perfectionist (and I have a bunch of clamps that needed to do something).

Hey, I looked up your link, and they are allot cheaper than my local glass shop. I pay 20-22 dollars for 6 feet. I will be buying mine online from now on. Thank you, Derek
