>>Has anyone already put together a list of common name and scientific name of snakes from which to make it convenient to study from? The information on some websites have the information, but it is seemingly very time consuming to place the information on a easy to study from sheet of paper. Thanks.
Many years ago yes, a basic type list was done for pretty much all herps. It is a book called A Complete Guide to Scientific and Common Names of Reptiles & Amphibians of the World by Norman Frank and Erica Ramus. ISBN: 0964103230. This book was published way back in 1995. The only real drawback to the book was there is only 1 common name listed for a scientific name. They did not list multiple commons for those herps that had such conflictions. Several times the common name used was not the one that one is used to using in the pet trade and such so it could get confusing at times. I assume the limitations were due to space considerations and the fact that it can be horribly time consuming trying to track down nearly all possible common names for a particular animal.
