Orange phased suboc pic... rare

dustyrhoads Jan 15, 2006 10:20 PM

Here ya go, John. I had to reduce the pixel size, so hopefully it won't be too blurry.
This is the golden-orange color phase of Trans-Pecos rat that I am working to establish, pictured here with a normally colored animal of the same age that is a double-het for axanthic blonde.
The golden-orange, orange and red phases of subocs increase in their intensity of color with age. They might start out as golden-yellow, honey or vaguely orange-yellow. Some adults end up as SCREAMING orange.

Cheers!

I hope you are able to make some. Orange and red are my favorites. I would love to see them established. I am working with a Trio of orange in hopes of making a few. My male has brightened considerably from a year ago.

Good luck to you too Bill! Yours are Peppers Hill locality orange, correct?

The male is Peppershill captive born and the two females are from near Terlingua a short distance from Peppers Hill.
