From my chemical-free yard:

Dandelions (leaves and flowers)

Clover (leaves and flowers)

Wild violet (leaves only)

Henbit (not real wild about this)

Wild strawberry (mainly leaves)

Plantain (yard weed)

From the grocery (fresh only): Collard greens, mustard greens, kale, endive, pre-packaged salad mix (only clean leftovers from my meals - this is too expensive for regular feeding), squash & carrots (limited amounts).

Cactus pads when I can find it.

Pretty Pets tortoise pellets - they like it dry but I also mix it with soaked Timothy Hay. I'm going to try Alalfa Hay next.

Also Hibiscus flowers.

I add Repcal calcium&D3 to the weeds/greens/vegetables, but not to the pellet/hay mix. I also leave them some cuttlebone to gnaw on.

85% of diet is Timothy Hay or Orchard Grass - soaked and chopped

A few Mazuri pellets soaked.

A chopped chunk of cactus with each feeding

In summer - yard grass, dandilion, clover

I just bought a pound each of dried Hibiscus flowers, dandiion leaves, chickweed. I soak a couple tablespoons of each.

I also sometimes by kale, and dandilion leaves and dry them so they don't rot.

I realize that fresh is better, but most of this stuff is not available fresh - so I figure rehydrated is better than nothing.

My Leopard Tortoise salad:
50 plus percent Mixed Grasses (Tropical Carpet Grass and 2 species of sour grass- one of which is found in S and E Africa)- yard and neighborhood.

Less than 50 percent:
Optunia Cactus- from yard
Chinese Morning Glory- store bought and from neighborhood
Water Cress- store bought
Mustard Greens- store bought

Treats:
Hibiscus flowers- from yard
Dandelion flowers and leaves- from yard

Often allowed to forage in yard. Not kept outside because of night time predators.

No pesticides are used in my garden or area and all produce bought is certified pesticide free.

Cheers,

Michael
