Radiant Heat Panels

colubrid-aphilia Jan 16, 2006 06:05 PM

Ok, the heating of my new cages is starting to get on my nerves. I'm considering using Radiant Heat Panels, but they are pretty expensive.

Anyone have experience with them? Also, who do you recomend and what size would be best in my 48 x 12 x 12 cages?

Would consider used as well as new, wink - wink.

Thanks in advance,

Dan.

i personally us the rhp in the same size cage for one of my baos. i am totally satisified and like the rhp better the tape or uth. i wish i could change my rack to rhp. the cost more but are supposed to last 10 years and are supposed to be safer the uth and heat tape. i will never use anything else if it can be avoided. the size you need to use depends i theink in the temp gradient your looking for and the species being housed in the cage. if you ask me you can't go wrong with a rhp.

Dan,

I really like radiant heat panels but they are expensive. Since viewing is an issue have you thought about using lights as a heat source? Both a daylight bulb and a night time bulb? This would also help with the cost issues you mentioned to me further below.

But RHP's really are ideal heating sources for almost any situation. I'd never try to talk anyone out of a RHP from Pro Products.

So how do you get info on the Pro-Heat ones? I emailed the address on the website several days ago, and havn't heard back yet. They don't have any pricelist or size list at all, which makes it hard to make up my mind.

I have had good luck emailing Bob, but calling is always easier.
