Actually, the "sunburst" colors were originally marketed as high orange examples, the "Lemon yellow" had bright yellow bands, and the "turquoise' blue were ones that had higher blue than green tint to their background color. Now, some people have interpreted the sunburst as meaning high yellow.
Really, they're just color varieties, and not even distinct. Most of them were bred for the particular color, but it's pretty inconsistent and vague.
My main breeder has tons of Orange in th ebackground, and very big yellow bands. His son has even better yellow bands, but his background color, while failry normal when resting, shifts to completley orange when he's displaying - very weird. I'll have to get pics of him soon.
Colors in veileds are particular to the breeders, not a particular line. It's genetic, as all colors are, but it is NOT a single gene or trait.
The varieties are for marketign purposes, and have no natural or geographic basis, as Pardalis do.
