I have a few other bloodlines of black rats that are jet black as adults, but none even come close to being this dark at such a young age.

Hello Byron,
I have a '05 female just like yours, perhaps even blacker. Mine is a Marc Bell stock. It's only 6 months old and already blacker than most of he best adults I've seen, ever.
Regards, Herman.
We should enjoy the pattern on these guys while we can, because it will be gone in a flash. I have an adult Mexican Black king, but one thing I love even better about a solid black ratsnake is the jet black dorsal area in contrast with the white chin and neck area. It will be fun to watch our black rats grow and go through the change to solid black animals. If you ever get a chance, see if Dwight still has some photos of his adult breeders. I saw a pic of one back when his website was up, and you know the story goes. "I had to have one" LOL
Steve

Dwight sent me photos of both parents and photos of them going at it..
they are both stunning, black animals.
I like 'em jet black, but I also like when they hold alittle bit of pattern as adults.
I'll post photos of my other SC locale black rats.
