is it possible for a boa to turn almost completely red

bassettsboas Jan 17, 2006 02:10 AM

i have this female boa that i purchased from a breeder at a show . she was sold to me as a codom high pink 100% het for albino. i will post a picture soon, but the reason im posting is that i can not seem to find another boa that comes close to even slightly looking like this one. she has gone from a bright orange, to a reddish pink and continues to get redder with every shed. what could she be? She is not a hypo. She has breaks in her pattern that show normal coloring on her sides, but is bright red and has a tail that looks like fire. any info will be appreciated and i will post a picture as soon as i figure out how to resize it. thanks for any info you can give me.

I would love to see a pic of her when you are able to get it sized right. Go to www.fnreptiles.com and take a look at the fire boas. I do not if they are some kind of cross or what but they are super red!!!! Then Jeff Ronne has produced some scarlet pastel dream hypos and a few of those were real red all over also. Here is another website with another amazingly red- orange female, www.primareptilia.com, look for a female boa named Rosaline. I met Donnie at a reptile show and he said she was regular pastel dream that he bought from Jeff Ronne a few years ago. She is a beauty. The EBV Red group is another nice group of redish tinted animals and the Hopkins line of hi-pinks are nice but for a totally red non hypo that fire boa is the closest that i have seen besides a blood boa. I am no expert but I hope this helps you a little.
