Very Nice, I must say that I have seen that snake up close and personal. It was a real treat watching their throat displays.

Hey Bill-
Where do you pick up these killer animals? I know it's not the Kingsnake ads. I can kinda understand finding nice Spilotes but the Psuestes? If you ever get any pups please let me know. Beautiful animal!
Thanks-
Brett
There are many breeders and establishments that are private. I typicaly do not sell anything but enjoy sharing information or giving away the odd animal. I will poke around and see if I can find you a connection. There are people who hover around the importers and skim off the cream so to speak so by the time you see something on an add it is less than perfect or premium price. The one in the picture is a five year old captive born. If you send another E mail I will give you some names....Bill

bill, do you think psuestes & spilotes are in any way related? i can't get over how similar they look esp. that one coming out of the jug.....
They act similar, they boath flare thier throats. There are subtle differences. There is heavier keeling on the scales on Psuestes. Sulphureus subspecies is the only subspecies that sometimes looks like Spilotes. There is five subspecies of Pseustes.Feeding young Pseustes are like getting unicolor cribos to feed where Spilotes eat pinkys right out of the egg. My hunch is that there is a relational link. They occupy the same nich within their respective habitats.

thanks bill, the 'quick' similarity between the 2 is uncanny. i once saw solid lima bean colored psuestes at a show once that were being sold unwittingly as spilotes. i had never heard of psuestes up until that point till someone in the ratsnake forum [who had seen them also] informed me later when we were discussing them. have you ever seen/heard of such a locale animal? these were about 4' to 5' long i'd say and a rather unspectacular solid off green color.......
Yes there seems to be a wide range of colors available even at the sub specific level. In sulphureus there is Green, Black Yellow and Orange that can be uniform or mixed up. This is a new project for me but one I will be sticking with.
