Possible burn, need advice

bigbarret85 Jan 17, 2006 02:33 PM

My 05' columbian is starting to show signs of what i think to be a belly burn. She digs her way down to the heat pad under the tank and lies directly on the heated glass from time to time. I have adjusted the temps in the cage and she has since moved around more. A small portion of her belly is showing signs of flakey brown scales that are rough and apparently tender to the touch. How can I help her heal faster? I thought maybe neosporin or some type of moisturizing solution but I am unsure of the saftey involved when using these on her.. Any suggestions? thanks in advance.

im sorry that the only advice i can offer is to take it to a vet. i know that not everyone is made of money however an office visit is usually around $30 and if you cant afford the medication they would prescribe then ask if there is an otc alternative. if they are a reputable vet with the snake's health in mind (and not $$$) then they should offer you that info without hesitation. and if what they advise you to purchase is not available in your area, feel free to ask in the forums. im sure that someone would be more than willing to help out.

Thanks for the reply.I just fed her yesterday but I will try to snap a few shots of the burn tomarrow and post thme on a few forums. If I don't get the advice I need then I will take her to the nearest vet here in San Angelo. Thanks again.
