? on breeder tanks

PHRatz Jan 17, 2006 03:16 PM

Long story I won't go into it lol but there are no stores in my area that sell 40 gallon breeder tanks.
For those of you who do own 40g breeder tanks, I'm wondering what do you think is a fair price for one?
I have found one elsewhere for around $110.00.
My question is for those of you who have a 40g breeder, do you view that as a high price, low price, or about the going rate for one?
Thanks in advance for replies.

Well, I paid $80 for one in Petco - seven years ago.

In Canada, that's about right. Seems a little high for the States.

Thanks both of you for your input. I think it seems a bit high priced, I am still searching.
I hate to buy something without comparison shopping first, but I'm finding it very hard to compare this to anything else because nobody sells them around here.
I've checked with more local pet stores, so far nobody even knows what I am asking for.. except the store in another town selling the one for $110.00.
I never thought it would be so hard to find one of these tanks. sheesh.

Although I usually frequent and post the python forums, I do keep a lot of turtles...read this thread, and thought I'd offer my .02....lol
Try this link...you might find the prices better.
I know I can get my tanks delivered to the local shows through this vendor.
Also...I'm in CT, a place where everything is overpriced, and I don't pay $110 for my 75 gal tanks, let alone a 40.
Shop around.

I should think that any place that carries All-Glass aquariums would be able to order a 40 breeder, it's one of their standard sizes. As far as price goes, not too sure... but I payed 90 bucks for a 40-breeder critter cage (can't hold water unfortunately) and I think those usually go for a bit more than regular aquariums (30 or so for a ten gallon).

You would think that. I thought that myself because I do know that many turtle keepers nationwide have these tanks.
I just got off the phone with every aquarium store in this town & in the town 20 miles away. Combined the population of the 2 towns is a little over a quarter million.. it's not like this is Hooterville lol.
Not one person I spoke to had a clue & not one of them could find the dimensions I quoted in their order books.
I need this size because it has to fit a particular stand otherwise I wouldn't even worry about it.
What a hassle! ::::rolling eyes::::

I think my 30 gal breeder went for around $70...

That sounds like a fair price.
