Still unsure if gravid? Questions.

madamemedusa Jan 17, 2006 09:05 PM

Its been about 2-3 weeks since Medusa and Verdi "locked up". About when will I be sure if she's "knocked up"? Are there special signs to look for? She's still very active - all over the tank.

Also I found a way to help them with their shedding. Their water bowls were always ceramic and they shed in little bitty pieces. I switched to plastic bowls and Verdi just had his first near perfect shed (and he's over 3 years old).

Thanks!

Are you still putting them together, or have they been seperated all this time? You should reintroduce them and see if they lock up again. One or two times is usually not enough to impregnate the female.

I would continue to pair them up until you witness ovulation.

My gravid females usually lay coiled on the heat, are very inactive (until about 1 or 2 days prior to laying eggs), retained good body mass and are not interested in meals during this period.

Look for these signs.

Actually ours are all together all the time. We were never "trying" to breed them so we just have them all together. But they have not tried to lock up again.
