Hi there,
Well... soon, I hope. We got the technical issues squared away a couple weeks ago. The site was actually up and running for a few days, (not long enough for me to get all the text up again,
I still have to start from scratch there...)
THEN... out of the blue, apparently our domain name server/host people decided charge us $35 for a $7.95/yr service, (which we had already paid.) So, not recogonizing the charge, I placed a charge back on them - this was almost three months ago.
When we switched site hosts, (to fix the initial problem) they figured out about the charge back and yoinked our site 'off the air' so to speak, and put it in some sort of 'lock down' (for lack of a better description) so we were basically stuck with paying them their $35 for a $7.95 service, just to get the name back.
Had to send them a check, since they won't accept my credit card anymore, so that added a couple weeks. It should've been back up a couple days ago - but no such luck. We emailed them yesterday, they got back to us just now, and now apperently they need proof that we paid them, basically we're getting the run around again.
Had they sent a bill or something, instead of just charging me all willy-nilly, none of this would've happened.
Even though this really smells like a 'bait-and-switch' scam they're running on us, (and probably a lot of other people, too.) Apparently, it's all legal. Matthew looked through the code on their site and we figured it out. They set people up for an "automatic renewal" thing, (which doesn't work properly) and it stipulates that they can change their prices whenever they feel like it. It dosen't say that on their site, of course.
At least my email still works, so if you'd like to know who NOT to register your domain with - I'll be more than happy to share that information with you.
Thanks for looking out for us, and letting me rant a little.
(:
Have a great weekend!
Liz
