There are many many people with alterna like your son's. This particular specimen appears to be a Christmas mountain animal, or possibly further West. I have some similar from the River Road in far West Texas. As far as why you don't see any pics like this may be you are not looking hard enough. Check out peoples websites who collect alterna and/or breed them. Ric Blair posts often of many varieties of alterna and I am sure you can look back on these posts and find one very similar.

I have a nice one that is kind of close to that. Mine is a Black Gap. Yours is very nice. Derek

By the way, Do you know where you got it? Derek
Thanks for the pic, Derek. Nice snake. Maybe it's kin to ours!
We got it from a breeder here in the St. Louis area. I can look up the name if you want more info... let me know.

I got mine from David Doherty at the Daytona Expo. He is from Texas. She was my 4th Black Gap that I have gotten from him. I am going to try to breed a non-locale pair this Spring. I bred corns but not GBKs. Derek
I have a sibling female to one of the Black Gaps that Derek has. He has a very nice one and damn near is identical to mine. I still think yours is from farther West.

Can you post pics?
Thanks,
Walt
