Constriction

phiber_optikx Jan 17, 2006 10:11 PM

I noticed a few posts on constriction a few lines down and it brought up a question. A few years ago I kept a wc black rat that had an interesting way of constricting. Instead of wrapping around the prey it would "squish" it. Imagine a sideways "S" which represents the snakes body. It would just press itself against the mouse to where the mouse was trapped between two folds. It was actually a very accurate way of killing the mouse. Anyone else experience this?

Don't forget these snakes in the wild in a burrow just need to press their body against the walls of the burrow to kill something. They may not have enough room to constrict.
