is this a palustris or pipiens?

Took this shot in our yard (coastal Massachusetts) and was curious - is this a Pickerel or a Northern Leopard frog? Thanks for any expertise. (My guess was pickerel based on the somewhat rectangular spots)

Looks like Rana palustris, but the easy way to tell is that pickerels have yellow on the inside of their hind limbs.

Hmm - wasn't able to view your picture - not sure, yahoo/geocities said it was not available...

Yeah, I read about the yellow under the hind limbs too - and unfortunately (or fortunately for him/her) the little guy has been back in the wild since right after the photo shoot.

I do have some more pictures from different angles that I will triple check to see if there is a trace of yellow - although they're all from above, so it's not easy to tell.

Thanks though, that was my guess too.

Ah wait - maybe this pic shows a bit of yellow in the legs...
