I just got back from the vet and finished changing his tank to a hospital tank (man, it looks boring!). I really, really liked her. It was the first time I had gone to her. Her name is Karen Shaw Becker, DVM in Tinley Park, IL. She was very nice, SMART, explained everything, and really had a genuine love for the animals (you could easily see it). I'm going to her from now on!
That's the good news.
Bad news is, Spot is in the early stages of pneumonia. He's on a course of Amikacin C every other day, five doses to go (he got one today already). I'll be doing the injections with the help of Eric. She said the adjustments I've made to his environment are good, and to just keep him warm! He SHOULD be doing better by the second shot. I sure hope so! He's so thick with mucus right now that he can't even use his tongue properly.
To top it off, he's got mites!! ARGGG!!! Not real bad, but they are there. So, in addition to treating him for the RI/pneumonia, I have to treat this as well.
Boy, does this ever pound in the lesson about pet stores for me. I knew it already, but thought he looked good. Any future animals will be from breeders with a good reputation ONLY!
