Hypomelanistic bairdi?

Krister Jan 18, 2006 01:50 PM

Hi,

Just wanted to post some pictures of one of my girls. This is a hypomelanistic P. bairdi from 2004. When hatching I supposed that they were amelanistic, but I guess they should be called hypos since they have some amount of melanin.

Anyway, enjoy!

Sincerely,
Krister

This is what she looked like when she had just left the egg:

Very nice bairdi, I would also call it hypo. Curiosity, what does the shed skin look like? Cellophane clear or slightly patterned?

Hi Jeam,

I haven't really thought about it, but if I remember correctly it is clear. I'll have to check the next time they shed (they're in brumation right now).

All the best,
Krister

Yeah she looks hypo to me too...How many did you produce in your first clutch ?...sweet camera work too .

Two (both females) out of five were hypos.

All the best,
Krister

Nice, VERY nice really! Are they related to the Ric Blair line? Do you have any locality data on them? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

They were bought as normal Texans and the hypomelanistic young just popped up as a great surprise! I suppose they are unrelated to the Ric Blair line (I don't even know who Ric Blair is . No locality data on them, there are not many bairdi with locality data in Europe.
