couple of questions...

herpguy24 Jan 18, 2006 03:00 PM

My turtle water is like REALLY cold. I have an UTH and I know that doesn't do much but the other in tank heaters that i put in there stick to the glass. Then their cord gets melted to the heater, and my turtles start touching it and i'm afraid that it might be hurting them. Also, I have noticed that no matter what I do I see dog hair( its really short so thats what I think it is ) in it. I find at least 1 dog hair in my plate or bowl, and then when I get it out 10 more pop up so i ignore it. We have a dog but he doesn't go anywhere near the plates and stuff(since there 6 or 7 ft off the ground) and he does go near my turtle tank since he sleeps in my room, but he never sticks his head in. Also I have a something wisteria i think and its too big for my 20 gallon. I have it half way filled. Can I just cut it lower, or is there a way to make it spread instead of grow tall? Thanks.

What is the temperature of your water? I don't understand why your heater wire should be melting. This is just a defective heater and should not happen under normal use.

As far as the dog hair goes I really don't understand what you are getting at.

Also do you have a basking (heat and UVB) lighted area for him to dry off and bask on?

Wisteria is great stuff. You can cut it back but it will grow again really quickly.

What does your turtle setup consist of?

Sounds like you need a canopy hood to keep out foreign particles.

Well I just got them into a 20 gallon and before I had a canopy hood but it still got in. Also they have their skin and shell what looks like "shedding". What is this?

Sounds like you should invest in a good air cleaner/ filter.
