Help!!!!! Swollen Cali eggs??? is this normal???

stevesnake Jul 25, 2003 11:28 AM

Hi guys,
have 3no. Cali King eggs, that were laid 10 weeks ago.
Been incubating 80-83 degrees.
These eggs started off a perfect "cylindrical" shape, but over the weeks have started to swell and become misshapen.
They are still perfectly white on top, on the underside u can see the usual veins etc through the skin of the egg.
I would have expected these eggs to have hatched by now, is the fact that they have swollen up a bad sign??
Should i slit these eggs to see if it's a problem with the snakes breaking free???
I can take a picture of these if my explanation is unclear.
Every other egg we have this year is a perfect shape.
Thanx in advance for all your help!!!
S.

Steve, do not slit the eggs. It is normal for eggs to swell before they hatch. Be patient and soon enough you should start to see them pipping. Let us know when they hatch!
