my frog pooped funny

iamfrontosa Jan 18, 2006 09:32 PM

My friend has a whites tree frog and I guess he said it poop his intestine. All he did was pop it back in. Any ideas on why this would happen or what actually happened? He just got it a week ago, I would describe it as semi-adult. He hasn't seen it eat yet, but crickets dissapear so we assume its eating. Thanks.

It sounds like your frog has experienced an intestinal prolapse. There are many possible causes for prolapse, incl. calcium inbalance, too large or incompletely digested food items, and, most commonly, intestinal parasites. My recommendation is to get a stool sample and get your frog to the vet as soon as possible. If you can not get a stool sample, your vet can perform an enema, and look for parasites that way.
