EMERGENCY pacman ate FBT, bloated and croaking

sw0rdf15h Jan 18, 2006 09:59 PM

I was cleaning the tanks of my FBT and Pacman (never did this before, I'm an idiot) and the FBT lept into the pacman's enclosure. The Pacman snapped on the FBT so fast, I coudlnt' believe it because he refuses to eat anything but crickets.

The pacman managed to stuff the whole frog in his mouth, I gently massaged it out of him. The FBT seems ok, a minor bite wound. Immediately I put the Pacman in its cleaning carrier (paper towels and water only) The Pacman is now swelling and making choking noises.

I'm debating whether to have warm water (to induce the pacman to urinate and defecate out the toxins) or cold water (to slow the poison). He's in cold water right now, it's not helping and he's swelling up & choking still.

Is there anything I can do? What should I be doing that I'm not?

Any advice is appreciated, we'll see how he's doing tomorrow.

Oh no! It's been a day since you posted your question, so I suppose it's a little too late to give advice on what to do.
How is your pacman today?

the FBT is fine, the shoulder rip looks like it's healed. The Pacman was still bloated and choking last night, I put him in a moderately temperatured sanitary environment for two hours, when I came back he was weezing slightly less and looked a bit less bloated. Rather than swelled like a balloon, he looked like he had just had a huge meal. I put him back in his normal enclosure, and he hopped around to get away from me, so he's not paralyzed. This morning he's completely buried himself, as has the injured FBT. I'll check on them again in a day, I want to give them a while to recover mentally and physically with no disturbances.

Anything you can think of that I should be doing?

Thanks.
