Pacman tank set up?

callmekon Jan 18, 2006 10:52 PM

I just got an albino pacman and i was wondering about the set up. I've been reading and it seems that paper towels or bedabeast is the best. However I was just wondering if it would be ok to put the toad in a tank with just water. What are the consequences for putting the toad in a tank with only water? What are the consequences with water and moss?

putting a pacman in a tank with just water is not a good idea, simply because it becomes very time consuming to clean the water everyday, which should be done regarless of whether or not he poops in it everynight or if you have a filter. you should at least use moss if you are going to attempt this, but keep in mind they are burrowing frogs and are from a tropical region, which means they need to be kept warm, and putting a heat light or ceramic heat emmitter on a amphibian should be avoided whenever possible and you won't have enough water to use a aquarium water heater safely. The best bet is using forest bed or bed a beast as a substrate. you should put some gravel or laval rocks under the dirt, with a landscaping fabric or non-metal window screening between the dirt and the rocks to allow for drainage. a large water bowl should be provided, along with a light daily misting. the best advice i can give you is to research your pet before you buy so you know what your getting into. I personally would not recomend using a bare bottom water enclosure.
