We went for her third antibiotic shot Wednesday. Dr Oldfield thought she looked better. It's hard for him to see how much better she is, because she gets so stressed out going there and it makes her breathing bad. His assistant holds her for the shot, and she just goes nuts. He said it probably burns going in, on top of the pain from the needle stick. She makes me feel good, though; afterwards she scrambles right back to me, and it seems very purposeful, as though she knows mommy will take care of her. Elan, I asked about the Nutri-Cal being mainly for herbivores and he said he didn't think so, and that he had even given it to dogs and cats. But he said if the Prescription A/D worked well for you, then I should try it. So I brought home a small can. Didn't try it yet, as I figured she had enough stress for one day already.
I have been buying smaller crickets for a while now because one day I decided all the chirping was driving me insane! Every now and then one will manage to live and grow up in the terrarium. Cadence was chasing crickets before her appointment and twice I saw her snatch a bigger one and then lose it, like she was unable to swallow it. She didn't give up, though, and I was sure happy to see her catch and eat one of the smaller ones. Maybe I won't have to supplement her feeding much longer. She is a lot more animated than a week ago, and as long as nothing upsets her, her breathing looks pretty good. I hope we are out of the woods.
I'm posting my Veterinarian's webpage again, in case anyone missed it. He has some fantastic pictures there of collareds and has traveled a lot to get photos in their natural settings. His office has fabulous huge prints on the wall and it is a real pleasure to go there and look at them. I hope you enjoy.
