Leopard Frog Tadpoles

OneLittleRugRat Jan 19, 2006 05:34 AM

Hi Everyone....We are adopting two leopard frog tadpoles this weekend. These tadpoles were born captive....I have read so many different ways to feed them, want to get more opinions on the proper foods to feed them as tadpoles.

(Sinking Fish Food, Shrimp Pellets etc........)

Thanks,

Melanie

I never had leopard frog tads, but I think they're related to grey treefrogs. If they're not ignore this completely! I fed my GTF tads romaine lettuce that had been frozen. Any lettuce will do, but the romaine has a lot more nutrients than iceberg. Freezing it breaks the plant cell walls, making it easier for the tads to munch. Cooking it works, too, but it seems you would lose some nutritional value by cooking. I would just stick a few romaine leaves in the freezer, then break off a piece when I needed it; it would float and the tads would come up and nibble on it.

HTH!
