bad shed, injured toe

cee4 Jan 19, 2006 07:47 AM

Im not sure what to do about the toe...Its kinda floppy, I cant see anymore shed on the toes but its not that easy to make the tegu sit still..I put neosporin on it, should I soak him everyday or something? Will he lose the toe? Will it get infected? Anyone else have this happen?

if the shed stayed around the toe for long enough it might be dead, but still connected to the foot. it will fall off eventually if thats the case. for right now i would soak him EVERYday for about 30mins in somewhat warm water. try and feed some oranges and other things high in Vitamin C to help the shedding and prevent this from happening again. Also, if it is looking "gooey" and like an open wound i would probably replace whatever substrate you have with newspaper to help prevent infection.
