Dwarf true red-tails

snakebitejunkies Jul 25, 2003 12:23 PM

Is anyone working to produce dwarf true red-tails (i.e., something that doesn't exceed 5-6 feet or so, similiar to Hogg Is.)? I have limited space, but am so in love with the color and patterns of the true red-tails. Someone please produce some dwarfs!

Here is one of my normal female Nicaraguan boas that helped me to get really excited about Nicaraguans. They seem to be extremely variable and have fantastic morphs such as hypos, anery's and of course.......my favorite, T+'s!!! LOL I love that they breed early and stay small. Some males aren't much bigger than worms when the are able to breed. Females are in the 4 1/2 to 6 foot size with males being smaller and thinner. This makes handling and housing them so much simpler than the larger snakes and they are just as pretty in their own right.

Thanks Tom. That looks like a very nice boa. Are they smaller than Hoggs, Sonoran boas, or Cancuns? What's their disposition like?

Are you breeding these yet? If so, any available? I really like the color and pattern of the one in the pic. What are your T s?

Thanks,

Mike

I've got sonorans right now, they don't have red-tails (more of a brown or black) but they stay pretty small-both my male and female are 5' and the male is slightly thinner than the female.

I believe there is a Venezuelan bloodline that is a true redtail, and dwarfish, though I don't know what availability might be. Talk to Gus at Rio Bravo Reptiles (who is a participant here).
