New Bullfrog

Devi Jan 19, 2006 10:03 PM

Ok, I have FBTs (no I don't want to put them in the same tank!) and
I recently rescued a froglet that's apparently a bullfrog. He's realllly cute and I got him about 3 days ago but he only comes out
of his cave if I'm asleep (I only know this because I heard a splosh
during the night and my plants were rearranged when I woke up)

Should I try anything to make him less shy (hand feeding) and
what should I feed him, I have been feeding him crickets and I
have some freeze-dried mealworms I use sometimes for my FBTs.

He's about an inch and a half long and in a realllly small tank
(temporary) with a submerged filter, a rock cave that has water
inside but he could hop up onto it (I put the crickets up there)
and large river rocks with 1" aquarium rocks under those.
Does that sound ok for temporary?

I just need some general advice for this guy, I didn't get to
do any research before I got him and now I'm kind of at a loss-
every source I can find is very nonspecific.

What you have him in now is fine, and for the long-term cage you can use basically the same setup but bigger. They do like a varied water depth though (like a depth gradient). Make sure your temps are warm enough (around 70-73 will do)
