Made by nature zone. I bought it because I was under the impression it was to prevent shellrot but after I got it I realized it was something else. What exactly is it for?

Sorry, but I don't know the answer to this or your other question about the MiteGuard. If it was me with the products, I would call the manufactors. I would want to get the complete story and the best source is the people who make it.
