Salad mixes

jessica51202 Jul 25, 2003 01:05 PM

I just recently went to the store and instead of buying endive, kale, etc seperatly...I just bought one of those mixes in a bag. It's made by dole and the salad blend contains everything a beardie should eat. I guess my question is, are these alright or would it be better to just purchase the salads individually. Thanks in advance.

I've never bought them so I really don't know exactly what kinds of greens are in it. I guess if you know what you're feeding your beardie, it should be ok. I'd watch out for the mixes that contain spinach and regular lettuces like green leaf, red leaf, and ice burg that don't have any nutrition content and could cause diarrhea.

i get a spring/field greens by dole..it doesn't have spinach in it or any other non-nutritous lettuce.. and then i buy a bunch of collard greens.. i found when i bought individual bunches of lettuce much of it went to waste.. my one beardie goes through a bag of lettuce a week..

Yep that was my problem too, so I thought I'd try the dole mixes...but I did avoid the spinich ones and the others that aren't good. I ended up getting the mediterranean mix and the italian mix. these bags seem to last longer too. Thanks for the advice.

Looks like I will have to look for these Dole salad mixes the next time I'm at the store. Thanks for the advice.

Makes a spring mix that has good things in it and also there is a herb mix.

Please note, dragon can eat and do enjoy some baby spinach, in small amounts it does not harm them and also is one of the greens that is loaded with antioxidants which aids in cell growth and immune system building.
