Gecko breeding

I am currently trying to breed mt leos, but have been unsuccsesful. The male will go to breed with the female, biting her on the neck, but she bites back vicously. Should I leave them together, or introduce the for brief periods of time? Should I try cooling down the female? Any help would be very much appreciated! THank you
