Do you do this?

Every week I soak my boxies event thought hey do it their selves. I spray them with Viat. Spay that you cover their shell with. I powder food with supplements. I spray water in their enclosure everyday for moisture. I rub shell prtoecting lotion on their shells to make them hinge with ease and keep color and strength.

Everyone says I am a dork. LOL

Am I missing anything?

With all this care of their shell and hinge, I assume you are giving them good nutrition as well. That is the most important as they will have a nice shell and hinge if their bodies are healthy from the inside out

I've heard from many people that using products on their shells isn't good, can possibly block the suns rays and make it harder for them to get the UV thats so important, and long term use could cause harm.
I dont use anything on my turtles shells, thats the way they evolved, so they must be doing something right, why mess with that...

Well, you use it once a week. I don't think i should just let nature take it's course in an indoor inclosure. Outside yes, indoor, I don't know. It is impossible to replicate nature in my room. If you have more info, let me know. I don;t wnat to harm them.

I don not use any type of 'conditioning' product because I feel they are a total waste of time and money. Turtles do not need lubrication of this kind to keep their hinges working properly!

I do use vitamin powder on the food that I prepare for all the turtles, and maintain the highest possible humidity levels for the young turtles that are housed inside during the winter months.

All the adults are housed outdoors year round, so there's no need to tinker with humidity levels.
