Any snakes out this time of year, San Diego aera?

rbichler Jan 21, 2006 09:07 AM

I'm heading that way to work for 3 or 4 days, was wondering if any snakes were out and about this time of the year down there. Their telling me its 70 to 80 degrees.

Dude,
This is one of the best times of the year, weeds are not thick yet and animals are easier to see. Temps have cooled off but mid day to afternoon is good, I have found plenty with ambient temps in the high 50's. This is a pic from one year ago, bigest C. ruber I have seen and less than 1/2 mile behind my house. One of my favorite snakes to see.

Thanks for the reply Rick, my job site is at Skinner Reservoir, I beleive it's a little N.E. of San Diego. I'm taking my camera, if I see any, I'll post pictures.

Skinner is a really good spot (riverside co), but a bit cooler than SD right now. You might do okay in the rockpiles, depending on what part of the lake you are working.

By the water treatment plant, I beleive the west side.
I'll find out tomorrow (Sun.) I'm leaving in the morning.
