he eats in your hand? is that common?

kingsnaken Jan 21, 2006 03:05 PM

Are you new to the forum? Just Kidding. He has posted lots of pics like this. I think they are awesome. He has some really nice snakes, and they all seem to be eating great, and they do it from his hand. Derek

uncommon but now a seen more often feeding method than b/4, there are maybe a dozen in-hand feeders that frequent this forum. I believe feeding snakes in-hand is a big step towards the domestication of snakes. Under NO cicumstances should VENOMOUS or LARGE/DANGEROUS SNAKES be fed in-hand.

AS always Jetzen, that goini is a beauty. About how large is he now? He has a color about him that's just beautiful. And I have to agree, no hand feeding Burmese & Rock Pythons, LOL
Speaking of handfeeding, if there was ever an obsoleta Rat that might make the hand feeding cut, it would be my new Grey Rat that I picked up a week ago. A very laid back 05 hatchling from Dwight Good. I remember that beutiful adult you used to have. I loved it so much I had to get me one, LOL

is just under 4'. And here is the sploides you mentioned and btw that sploides looks much, much better then this guy did.
That Dwight Good sure gets/produces some nice ones, and his old site was awesome that's where i got most my rack and incubator ideas.

and surely one of the less commonly seen subspecies, esp. c/b beauties like that one...surely the darkhorse of the obsoletas.

My first in hand feeding. Not a king, but I figured I'd start out with my 05 female P.Slowinskii (Kisatchie corn) Looks like she passed with flying colors.

wow, what the hell phase of blk rat is that?looks like a texas rat, with all that nice orange coloration...is it one of those 'brindled' blk rats?

JETZEN Jan 21, 2006 11:31 PM

snakeguys.com back in 03 and i believe Scott said in a email that the black rat is a F1 from Indiana or maybe Illinois i don't remember which, sorry. How's your ruthveni project going? I'd like to see more pics of those stripers.

justinian2120 Jan 22, 2006 12:12 AM

cool.....hey,the only striped stuff i have in fact is some abberant temporalis from striped parents-will put those together for the first time this year...and the only ruthveni i have are some la. pines, and they are are a few years off of breeding age/size-really don't want to rush those with the monster eggs....i get the feeling you have me confused with someone who has some striped ruthevn's kings,or something,lol....?

JETZEN Jan 22, 2006 12:51 AM

I thought you are the guy with the striped ruths, sorry, i been gettin mixed up quite a bit lately, well anyway, striped temporalis? those gotta be killer.

justinian2120 Jan 22, 2006 09:11 AM

no problem,jetzen...well they just come from striped parents, they themselves are not striped-they are uniquely patterned though, basically a reversed pattern if you will-more or less like robert applegate's bullseye patterned milks(i think his are annulata)...white blotches, circled by black,on a red ground color.....let me try to post some pics of them in the photo gallery(i already have a pic of a maryland coastal in there.)

justinian2120 Jan 22, 2006 09:18 AM

under milksnake photos, type in 'coastal' on the search box....it's titled 'ocean county coastal female'

JETZEN Jan 22, 2006 10:04 AM

the pic, a very different lookin specimen, thanks.

justinian2120 Jan 22, 2006 06:00 PM
