question specks in my snakes water????

i went on vacation and when i can home their were tiny blackish brown dots in my snakes water they were about as big as a comma(,) and long like it too??? pleas help if you know what this is

fish the little fellas out and look for legs. Are any of the black dots moving in the cage? Take white latex gloves and run your hands down your snake... do you have any black dots on your gloves? Just a couple ways to check for mites.... if you have them provent a mite works well to kill them. Hope this helps! Dan

I'm dealing with mites currently. It looks a bit like someone took a pepper shaker to the waterbowl. If you would like, I can photograph my waterbowl tomorrow (when there may be mites in it) to see if it's what you've got. I've got stuff from the vet that I'm treating with, but there are a number of OTC meds you can get.
