Ceramic Heat Emitters

melgrj7 Jan 21, 2006 11:53 PM

Does anyone here know if Exo Terra ceramic heat emitters will last as long as I've heard zoomed ones do? (2-4 years).

Anyone notice any differences between the 2 brands of heat emitters?

I wish I knew the answer. After our a-hem pet sitter (I use that term loosely & will never use that person again) left the 250watt ZooMed lying on the concrete floor of the tortoise mansion I had to get the backup out of the closet immediately when I found that it wasn't working anymore.
Since I had to use my backup I mail ordered another for backup not realizing that I bought an Exo Terra until it got here...
I haven't used it yet, it's still the backup heater so I don't know if it's going to work or not.
I can tell you though that the 100 watt ZooMed I bought for box turtles is still going. It's in it's 5th year of use, it is still working very well.

I've only used one kind that have lasted these last I don't know how many years. Unfortunately I've forgotten the brand name. It's the white screw in one that looks like a bulls eye.

I've got ExoTerras but I've only had them for a year.

A year is good though. Years ago I used to buy those reptile basking or heat bulbs, I was lucky if they lasted a month without blowing out. That's what led me to using CHEs instead.

A year is good two is better, past that is fantastic compared to heating light bulbs.

That's exactly why I decided to try the CHE, I got tired of expensive bulbs blowing.
