Mantelas come from the country madagascar. Its a huge island off the eastern coast of africa. Very unique animals are found only on this island. Need any more infor , just ask!

I've heard before that they are related to dart frogs. I dont know for sure though. they are toxic. And one source told me that they actually keep their toxins in captivity, I dont believe this to be true though.

Very nice pictures Nate. It looks like you have some very healthy goldens on your hands. If you ever take pictures of their terrarium I'd love to see them.

When mantella frogs were first classified they were placed in the family Dendrobatidae which are poison dart frogs. Later they were moved to the family Ranidae, which are true frogs, and have stayed there since. So basically mantella frogs are more closely related to american bull frogs than to poison dart frogs. Does anyone remember what its called when two species evolve simliarly but in different parts of the world? Like mantellas and poison dart frogs? Talk to you later,

I think it's called parallel evolution or parallelism, at least that's the term in plants. The strictly western hemisphere Cacti (with one exception of an African rhipsalis) and the African Euphorbias developed many almost identical gross morphologies on opposite sides of the globe. (Less conspicuous defining features place them in different order and genus, of course.) At one time, I made a kind of hobby of raising Cacti and the corresponding African Euphorbias to display side by side, so this has always interested me.
