A Few questions.

Hi everyone, ive finally joined this fine site after many weeks of trolling.

I just bought a Pacman on Friday. I currently have it in a 10 gallon tank. I use a under tank heater. Theres a lid on the tank with a Reptisun full spectrum light in it. Im using a sphagnum moss peat moss substrate. I mist the tank twice a day. That may be a bit much since theres lots of water on the walls. Ive got 2 plastic plants, a small log, and a water dish in the tank. So far, I havent actually seen it eat anything, but the crickets ive dropped in are gone. Its been buried for 2 days now. I hope its ok and have just left it alone. I have the water dish over the heated side to prevent it from possibly burning itself.

Does it look like im doing anything wrong so far? Thanks in advance.

John

Just a little update.

Ive turned off the light for now, but no change in its behavior so far. Still buried. Temps are around 74 F.

Ive tried a clamp light with a regular 60 watt bulb in it too. It was good for raising the temperature, but it dried out the tank. Im pretty confused as to what to do.

Seems fine. You don't need to mist it that much, just so that he's not drying up. If you have a water dish he can climb into, he'll regulate this himself. I've found that over misting causes the substrate to sour and mold.

If he is a baby pacman, he needs to be in the 80's- 74 is too cold and that is why he is not eating. If you are using moss, then you don't need to mist it so much- the moss will hold onto water. Try covering half the tank screen with plastic to see if you can get the temperature up. If you are using an undertank heater, be sure to measure the temperature where the frog is, not at the top of the cage. You don't want to cook him! : )
