Whitch gecko is the most potent producer?

inkognito Jan 22, 2006 04:53 PM

Hi,

I have question a buddy and I have been discussing, and that is witch gecko is the best producer?
He says Leopard geckos, with the most eggs pr year!
Is there any gecko that breeds and produces more egg per year than Leos?

regards
Alex.

Don't overlook the Pictus gecko. Very prolific little egg layers. I've even heard that unchecked, the female will possibly breed herself to death.

I agree with the pictus gecko assesment. I once had a colony of 1.3 in a 40 breeder and in one summer I got about 2 dozen eggs out of my laying box. Not many you say, I agree, but the kicker, when I tore the tank down after the breeding season I found probably 40 or 50 more buried in the sand that I had missed.

I have also heard that the viper geckos are very prolific and that, like the pictus, you have to be carefull that the females don't "lay themseves to death"
